GE 2016?

Here are some of the areas that were hotly contested in GE 2011.
Sadly, all the areas belong to the eastern side of Singapore. Nowhere near my place.
Do expect these areas to be even hotter in 2016.

I believe in 2016, WP will target the areas surrounding it's newly created SUPER GRC (Aljunied-Hougang GRC) to expand it's influence and enjoy the economy of scale in running town council and activities.
It is also quite sad that people holding Aljunied addresses do not belong to Aljunied GRC but Marine Parade. Sometimes I do wonder how these boundaries were drawn.

At my place, people holding jurong west addresses spread themselves across 5 constituencies: Jurong GRC, West Coast GRC, Pioneer SMC, Hong Kah North SMC and even Choa Chu Kang GRC (connected by KJE)!

Defend: PAP will definitely seek to regain Hougang SMC and Aljunied GRC

Attack: Proximity to Aljunied-Hougang and low percentage votes for PAP.

Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC:
Helmed by Wong Kan Seng and Ng Eng Hen, but this GRC only garnered 57% against SPP (Chiam See Tong), making it a very vulnerable and possible target in the radar of WP.

East Coast GRC:
Lim Swee Say, brought over from Holland-Bukit Timah can't seem to help his MRT-BUS friend, Raymond Lim. Only managing 54.8% votes. WP will definitely swing it's hammer at it again!

Joo Chiat SMC:
Sudden departure of Chan Soo Sen made this place vulnerable and WP nearly got hold of this place!
Yee Jenn Jong made an impressive campaign here and got 49% votes! Way to go for the ex-TJCian!
Yee's parting shot :"If Joo Chiat is still around in the next GE, I will be back!"

Tampines GRC:
Interesting place. Interesting Minister MBT. On one hand, people want their HDB value to rise. On the other hand, people do not want their children to suffer due to high HDB prices.
Anyway, with only 57% votes for MBT and his gang, and if he is still in MND in 2016, I'm sure there will be Thor II.

Marine Parade GRC:
Well, I guess what SM Goh said during the campaigning did not go down too well with the people. But people do enjoy watching the "own goals" he scored and the fielding of an "underaged" player in the team.
With only 56.6% of votes, I'm not sure if he is going to say that it is a mandate at all.
If TPL is still a candidate in 2016, SM Goh should consider fielding her in Pulau Ubin SMC or he should retire altogether.

Sengkang West SMC:
Reasonably a close contest. If this SMC is still around, WP should try to hammer it again.

Punggol East SMC:
What a waste that this contest became a 3-way fight and SDA was left badly bruised (deposit forfeited). With it's close proximity to WP's stronghold, this should be another SMC target battle ground for WP.

GE 2011 has ended. It is time to look at the results and reflect.

Map of Electoral Divisions (GE 2011)

For the upcoming General Election, there will be 12 SMCs and 15 GRCs making a total of 27 constituencies and 87 MPs. There are altogether 2,350,873 electors on the registers of electors of these 27 constituencies (based on the number certified as on the prescribed cut-off date on 1 January 2011 and updated to include the number of non-voters whose names have been restored to the registers from 1 January 2011 up to the time when the Writ of election was issued on 19 April 2011.

WP: For People. For Nation. For Future.

Towards a First World Parliament.

Check out this video from the Workers' Party.

The best thing is, my ST Forum letter, dated 20 Feb 2008, was used.

I have cast my vote!

I wonder how the PAP got my full name and my address.
I think I will simply drop this card in the polling box on 7 May.

Cheers!

Fool, RIP.

After 4 days, this poster was found on the floor. I guess some people must have placed below the MRT tracks to remind people that PAP's TRACK record was good.

Well, what kind of track records are we talking about here? The MRT Track? Train is very packed during peak hours and SMRT makes hell of a lot of profit!

"HIGHER operating profit, mainly from improved train and bus ridership, boosted
SMRT Corp's net profit by 50.3 per cent to $34 million for 2010 Q4."

They should change it to: "Efficient packing and squeezing of passengers led to SMRT Corp's net profit to increase by 50.3% to $34million for Q4 2010"

The Fool's Rally

CCTVs in all Pioneer blocks, PAP's Cedric Foo promises

RESIDENTS in Pioneer will get CCTV cameras in every block of flats, said Mr Cedric Foo, the People's Action Party (PAP) candidate for the single member constituency at its rally on Friday night.
They can also look forward to a new primary school near Pioneer MRT station, as well as more childcare and infant care facilities, in addition to the 10 childcare centres now.
Addressing the rally, Mr Foo listed the improvements to Pioneer ward in the last 10 years that he has been an MP there, including the emergence of Pioneer Mall, Jurong Point and Jurong Medical Centre.
The ward has 25,745 voters in the west of Singapore, where many foreign worker dormitories are located.
He also sought to ease residents' concerns over foreign workers loitering in void decks, pointing out he has asked the authorities to allow beer to be allowed in dormitories and also pushed for a recreation centre to be set up for these workers.
In contrast, he said the opposition has not unveiled any concrete plans on how to deal with the foreign worker issue.
'Do you want action or promise?' he asked the crowd at the rally.
